Gary Yandura, Chief of Police
The Chief's Office manages the day to day operation of the Hiram Police Department.
Chief Yandura was appointed by the City Council and sworn in by the City of Hiram City Clerk on May 4, 2010.
Before coming to Hiram, Chief Yandura served the City of College Park, Georgia as Chief of Police for over nine years. Prior to College Park, he served the citizens of Illinois for twenty-four years at the Lake Forest Police Department where he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Chief.
Chief Yandura received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois and earned his Masters of Public Administration Degree from Roosevelt University in Illinois. He also completed numerous administrative programs in the law enforcement field including Northwestern University’s Police School of Staff and Command and the F.B.I’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Program.
Chief Yandura has been very active in community programs. He is past Lt. Governor of Georgia’s 16
th Kiwanis Division, was Chairman of the Tri-Cities Narcotics Executive Board, and served on a Local School Board in College Park. Most recently, he served on a Georgia Joint Senate and House Study Committee dealing with the Sexual Exploitation of Minors, as well as, Georgia’s Fatality Review Committee, dealing with domestic violence.
